expertise areas

We have broad expertise within pharmacology and toxicology from the early screening phase to late-stage preclinical studies. We work in close cooperation with our clients which is essential in the early phases of development. Our clients are also welcome to watch; or even participate in studies.

We are able to assist within the following areas:

  • PoC studies, for instance within
    • Diabetes
    • Inflammation
    • Dermatology

  • Toxicology
    • Acute/chronic
    • Local toxicology
    • Batch release tests (GMP)

  • In vivo PK/ADME
    • PK studies in pigs, minipigs, dogs, rabbits and rats
    • First-pass metabolism model in minipigs

  • Medical device testing

Pharmacology

- Pharmacokinetics (PK)

BioAdvice performs pharmacokinetic studies in mice, rats, rabbits, minipigs, SPF pigs and beagle dogs. Test substances may be dosed intravenously, intramuscularly, intraperitoneally, subcutaneously, intradermally,  dermally or through permanent catheters. Blood samples will be taken for analysis of test substances with the aim of elucidating absorption, distribution, metabolism and excretion of the substances.

- pharmacodynamics (PD)

BioAdvice performs pharmacodynamic studies in mice, rats, rabbits, guinea pigs, minipigs, SPF pigs and beagle dogs. Dosing will take place at clinically relevant intervals intravenously, intramuscularly, intraperitoneally, subcutaneously, intradermally, dermally, intranasally or rectally.  Blood samples may be taken for clinical chemistry and/or haematology. Effect on behaviour, ECG, respiration may be registered. Furthermore, we collaborate with a selection of leading GLP-certified laboratories for in-depth histopathologic analysis of tissues.

We have a broad portfolio of performed studies, where our experiences and observations, help us continuously improve study designs and refine our technical procedures. E.g.

- MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) of joints, evaluating bone and cartilage healing / repair.

- Examination of test substances in type I diabetic animals.

- Wound healing studies in pigs

- Studies on effects of test substances on mice and rats with CIA RA

- Studies on effects on rats with EAE

- Inflammatory tests

- Tests for antigenic impurities in guinea pigs.

- Toxicology / toxicity studies, single and repeated dosing, local toxicity tests

- Batch release tests according to GMP

- Medical device testing
